A race weekend is a temporary town with a hard clock. Our crews worked to the circuit programme, which meant every installation window was measured in hours and every overnight turnaround had a fixed finish time.
Fan zones
Four zones, each with its own screen and audio system, all fed from a single playback position so the commentary was consistent across the site. Zoning the audio was the design decision that mattered: a shared mix across four zones is a mix that is wrong in three of them.
The evening concert
The after-race stage ran a line array system tuned in the afternoon and re-checked after sound check, because the temperature drop after sunset changes the low end noticeably on an open site. Lighting was prevized before the weekend and re-focus checked nightly.
Two extra hoists were needed when the stage layout changed in the week of the event. Because the depot is in Dubai and the truck was already scheduled, they arrived the same evening.
