Nine riggers requalified this month, and the inspection routine they brought back is now the standard on every flown build.
Rigging certification is a three-year cycle, and this year nine of our riggers went through the refresher in the same window. Doing it together had an unexpected benefit: the course surfaced three small differences in how each supervisor was recording hoist inspections.
One inspection sheet
We now use a single sheet across the company — photographed, timestamped and attached to the show file before the first audience member is let in. Anything flown overnight is inspected again in the morning, and the second inspection is logged separately.
Training inside the company
Two of the returning riggers are running internal sessions for the stage crew, so the people building the truss understand what the inspection is looking for. It has already changed how cable is dressed on our own builds.
